Online Course Options with St. Charles Community College

High school juniors or seniors at Winfield High School are welcome to take college-level classes and start earning college credit through St. Charles Community College. The credits earned will be recorded on an SCC transcript and may be used to fulfill degree requirements at SCC or at a transfer institution’s discretion. In addition to the requirements listed below, this checklist was developed to help you through the enrollment process. 

COVID-19 Registration Updates: 

Summer dual enrollment courses will be available for the Summer of 2020. Due to Winfield R-IV School District not hosting Summer School this year,  you will be responsible for completing this course on your own at home with the assistance of the college professor only. A Winfield high school teacher will not be available to supervise your progress, so it is recommneded to stay in contact with your SCCC professor and email them directly regarding any questions or concerns. 

Summer Dual Enrollment Letter 

Fall 2020 Dual Enrollment registration opens on April 13th and will continue through August 16th.Please complete you SCC online application, as well as, your SCC Dual Enrollment Application, prior to this time and email it to your WHS counselor. Both can be found below. Once your applicaton has been received, SCCC will reach out to you via email to help you register for your classes via email or Skype appointments. SCCs Fall 2020 semester begins on August 17th 

SCC FALL 2020 Academic Calendar

 

 

Requirements to be eligible for dual enrollment:

  • Have at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) high school GPA 
  • Students enrolled in 6 credit hours or in math or English courses are required to complete the SCC assessment
  • The signature of an SCC counselor for registration your first semester in dual enrollment 
  • A complete dual enrollment application form is required every semester of enrollment 

 

Dual Enrollment Registration Process:

  1. Complete an SCC Application 
  2. Complete a Dual Enrollment Application (printable)– Dual Enrollment Application (fillable online) 

Once you are admittted to SCC, you will receive an email with your SCC portal login information. Click here to find directions on how to login into your portal for the first time. 

 

Cost 

Dual Enrollment costs must be paid by the student. In addition, the cost of textbooks and any related course materials are the responsibility of the student. 

Cost: $50/per credit hour – i.e. 3 hour course = $150 

 

Deadlines:

Summer Deadline: In order to register, you will have to apply to SCCC AND complete a Dual Enrollment Application. Please turn in your dual enrollment form to Mrs. Bauer or Ms. Norman by May 28th through email. There will be no exceptions to this deadline. SCCC summer dual enrollment classes begin June 1st, 2020 

 

Fall Deadline: In order to register, you will have to apply to SCC C AND complete a Dual Enrollment Application. Please turn in your dual enrollment form to Mrs. Bauer or Ms. Norman by August 12th.  SCCC fall dual enrollment classes will begin August 15th
